With the vigorous development of the printing and packaging industry, people are paying more and more attention to post press processing and die-cutting production, as well as the application of die-cutting materials. In the Hong Kong market, there is a fierce market competition among various die-cutting knives. At the same time, various brands were dazzling, providing customers with ample choices, but also increasing the difficulty of choosing. Among so many brands, as users, how can we 'choose the good and follow them'?
Characteristics that high-quality die-cutting knives should possess
1. High quality steel shall be selected: the steel molecular structure is tight, the blade is flexible, there is no too much rebound after bending, and the molecular structure remains tightly connected.
2. Exquisite surface decarburization treatment: The brittle carbon molecules are removed from the surface of the die cutting knife, so that the blade does not crack when bent, leading to the fracture of the blade body. It looks like a layer of soft leather tissue wraps around the blade, making it easier to bend and shape.
3. Excellent heat treatment: The mold section blade can be adjusted to different hardness according to customer requirements, and the blade body can be adjusted to be soft for bending, while the blade peak can be adjusted to be hard for durability.
4. Extremely high precision: The higher the precision of the die-cutting knife, the shorter the pressure adjustment time of the die-cutting machine, the lower the mechanical wear, the faster the production speed, and the better the die-cutting effect. Especially for the die-cutting of the adhesive label, high-precision die-cutting knives are simply not qualified.
5. More specifications and models should be available for customers to choose from: The selection of die-cutting knives should have more specifications and models for customers to choose from: The selection of die-cutting knives should follow three principles: (1) whether to produce a long version; (2) Whether the customer's requirements are high; (3) Is the pattern being die-cut complex. Choosing the most suitable model and specification of the die-cutting cutter is the key to ensuring the quality of die-cutting.
How to distinguish between high-quality and low-quality die-cutting knives?
1. Knives with quenched peaks are commonly referred to as soft knives due to their soft body and hard peaks. In soft knives, the thickness of the quenching treatment area has a significant impact on durability. The larger the quenching area, the greater the ability to support the mechanical pressure transmitted by the blade. Conversely, when the contact area between the harder blade peak and the softer blade is smaller, the hard part will sink into the soft part or easily fall off, and the supporting force is insufficient or reduced to zero, which shortens the life of the knife. Of course, there is no limit to increasing the area of the quenching layer, as too much quenching layer area can affect the bending of the die cutting tool. Due to the importance of the quenching layer and the fact that the larger the area of the quenching layer, the higher the cost of the knife, some unscrupulous manufacturers even use color coating to apply a layer of ink on the blade peak, which is considered quenching treatment to deceive users. As users, they should have a clear mind and not be deceived by counterfeit knives.
2. The higher the accuracy, the better the quality and grade of the die cutting tool. Taking the Bohler die-cutting knife from Austria as an example, its accuracy can reach ± 0.02mm, and the accuracy of A, B, and C type knives can reach ± 0.007mm. For example, if A type knives are used for a long time, the accuracy of A type knives can exceed ± 0.007mm (the same for B and C types), which is convenient for users. As long as the user specifies to purchase the same type of knife, the price remains unchanged, and the accuracy can be obtained at ± 0.08mm when there is a lot of work error, while ordinary backing paper is only 0.05mm thick, making it difficult to use backing paper to fill the large tolerance. Especially for adhesive die-cutting with extremely high precision requirements, these rough die-cutting are simply not qualified.
3. The selection of varieties with different hard bottoms is beneficial for adapting to different needs. Some brands only have one or two hardness knives, which are not suitable for die-cutting thicker materials. On the other hand, if there are only very hard knives, it can be a problem for forming complex patterns of wood molds. Or sometimes users reluctantly use the same knife for different requirements of die-cutting production, but fail to achieve optimal results, so choosing multiple varieties is a characteristic of high-quality brands.
